Lighthouse Series

New Artwork - Lighthouse series

Last fall I tried to order some mats online for my 8x10 prints, but I ordered the wrong size by mistake, so now I have a pack of 25 8x10 mats with a 5x7 opening.
So, recently I've decided to paint some 5x7 paintings to fit in these mats. I thought doing some series would be a good exercise. My first series will be four Outer Banks lighthouses. I painted the first of these this weekend, here's how it came out. It is Ocracoke Island Lighthouse.

My painted crocus garden

After all this snow and cold, I'm ready for some spring, so I've been painting myself one - Crocus ATC/ACEOs. Each one is 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 and painted in a variety of mediums and styles. Just experimenting and having fun. Happy Spring!

Christmas card painting

Here the painting I'm using in this year's Christmas cards. Soft paste on blue sanded paper.

watercolor bookmarks

Here they are finished, I will be selling these at the Craft Fair this weekend.

Painting OOAK original bookmarks in watercolor

I thought I would try painting some tiny works in bookmark size.

I did a 3-day workshop with Jack Pardue and here are my efforts. It was challenging, but I think I may have learned something :)

fall leaf

I did a little experimenting. It's watercolor, watercolor pencils, and soft pastel on watercolor paper

I did this study for a larger painting I'm planning.
8x10 soft pastel on canson paper

baby's ear

This is a nice relaxing little painting I did. Working with the soft colors and the swirls of the shell was very soothing experience. I should do more of these, for myself, since it was so stress relieving. :)

Paul in the Hood

This weekend I decided to paint a picture of Paul, on black paper, with my new PanPastels
This is the first with black paper, and with the PanPastels

PEZ done

When my sister and I went to Nanna's house, my aunt used to give us each a PEZ. I've also posted this on
9-1/2 x 7 on Wallis sanded paper.

This is the new painting i'm working on. It is on a new paper I'm trying, Wallis sanded. It acts very differently than the Canson Mi-Teintes I've been using. It's like learning how all over again. I'm doing it to post on an artist network website for a painting challenge "All media paint-off" the subject for Dec/Jan is "Favorite Toy"

I've started a new one

I'm starting a new painting of gladiolus from my garden. I chose to crop the photo to create a more abstract composition.

Egret Mirror

This painting comes from a photograph I took while in the Outer Banks, NC
